Temi Aboderin-Alao set to host Plussize Fashion Week Africa 2018

The Chief Executive Officer of JPKouture and a fashion mogul, Temi Aboderin-Alao is set to host the Plussize Fashion Week Africa (PFWAFRICA) 2018.

The fashion event themed “ Beautifully Me” is set to take place in Lagos on the 3rd and 4th of November 2018.
This was revealed by the host, Temi Aboderin-Alao while speaking with the Press in Lagos.

NoThe widely applauded Fashion event runway is streamlined only for the Plus Sized women.
According to Temi, there is an age-long stigmatization against the plus-size women which have resulted to the high level of low self esteem among plus size women.
She however noted that PFWAFRICA 2018 is staged to help build up the confidence in a lot of Plus size women in Nigeria.

“The Plussize Fashion Week Africa is not about promoting obesity, it is more appreciating our body just the way we are by building confidence in us and acknowledging our beauty”, she noted.
Speaking on the challenges, Temi posited that the fashion industry standard is so harsh considering the body build up and nature of African women.
“The African woman are naturally big with lot of flesh. It is rather too harsh to give a standard of size 10 for women”,she said.
Women above size 10, categorized as plus-sized, rarely find fitted clothes designed and tailored for their body, instead, they are left to make do with dresses that are quite ill-proportioned to their bodies.
“it was a struggle to get plus-sized models who could comfortably walk the runway.
“The Plussize Fashion Week Africa 2018 is cut out to influence this by confidently bringing out the beauty in our body.

“The event is staged to influence positive change into the Plussize women community
“Plussize women really need to start embracing and appreciating themselves for who we are”, she addressed.
Panelists and PFWAfrica influencers, also took turns to talk about their support for the movement and encourage plus-sized women to wear whatever they feel comfortable in, irrespective of what people have to say about curvy women.
The second edition of the search for Africa’s Next Plussized Model was also announced — a competition that will see successful participants get a chance to grace the runway at the PFWAfrica, and will also be signed, trained and developed by JPKouture’s modeling division, Golden Curvy Agency.
