Subscribers of 9mobile have been experiencing significant disruptions to their network services for several days. Both voice calls and internet connectivity have been severely affected, leaving users frustrated and unable to communicate effectively.
The cause of this prolonged outage remains unclear, with subscribers speculating whether it is linked to the recent SIM-NIN linkage deadline or potential internal issues within the telecommunications company. This uncertainty has heightened the frustration among affected customers.
As the outage persists, there is growing concern about the impact on businesses, individuals, and emergency services that rely on reliable network connectivity. Subscribers are demanding swift action from 9mobile to restore services and provide a clear explanation for the ongoing disruptions.
Recall, Business Remarks reported the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has ordered the immediate reactivation of lines affected by the NIN-SIM Linkage Deadline, following subscribers’ outcry on the mass deactivation of mobile lines by their telecom service providers in keeping with laws and policies of the NIN-SIM linkage.
On Monday, Business Remarks also reported, that LH Telecommunication Limited acquired a 95.5% stake in 9mobile through a capital injection, with a new board appointed to reclaim the telco position as a major player in the Nigerian telecom industry. The deal was approved by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC).
The telecom company currently has a market of 5.32 percent of Nigeria’s $76 billion telecom market with an active subscriber base of 11.3 million as of June 2024.
9mobile subscribers stressed that they never got any messages relating to SIM-NIN linkage.
On a Facebook post, Goddie Ofose wrote, “9mobile pls unblock me. NCC has said so and I have fulfilled all necessary requirements, unblock me please”
Also Sunday Tedunjaye lamented on Facebook, “9Mobile network you have to explain to your customers why we can not call and your internet not been accessible for the past week now. Failure to do this you will be reported to the NCC.l can not use my data or make calls with my line and this rubbish must stop”.
Temitope Akintifase also decried the situation in her Facebook post, “Please what been happening to the 9mobile network since 4 days now.”
