OSABOGS ’99 gives back to alma matter, urges students to increase network value

In a gesture of giving back for educational values and standard aquired, the class of 1999, Bolade Grammar School recently held a reunion engagement where more than a thousand students were sensitized on life after school

According to the Coordinator of the Old Student Association of Bolade Grammar School (OSABOGS) ’99 set, Mr Okuwa Kolade Joseph said the reunion is for celebrating 20 years of success, achievements outside the college, the positive impact of mentors in their lives while giving back positively to their alma matter.

In his address, Joseph posited that the theme for the twenty years reunion is beyond feasting and dancing but helping to set the right track for the students in order to avoid repeating their mistakes in life and career.

 

He added that the theme is also of great relevance to ex students as it will help them network amongst each other.

“We understand that no man is an Island, there is need for networking. Twenty years is a very long time in one’s lives”, Joseph stated.

On of the ex students who doubles as the Principal Strategist, Destiny Molding International (DMI), Mr Olugbayin Sola Kings stated that students also have the sole responsibility of increasing their network value even before leaving secondary school.

Speaking on the topic, “Your Network Value” at the workshop organised by the association for the current students (both junior and seniorschool), Sola Kings advised that the world paradigm has changed as people and organisations are now more open to innovative ideas that can change the status quo irrespective of age.

He encouraged the students to look beyond their present environment and start preparing for the future.

In his words, “students can increase their network value by personal determination to be better than their yesterday version, exposure to people of worth and valuable resources, also by pumping value into themselves through training and personal workshop.

“Discovering their gifts and developing their skills is a necessity to increase their network value. This provides them with peace of mind and personal sanity at the same time jump start their progress in career and life”, he stressed.

Also, another ex student, Mrs Oniyokor Glory Imaobong walked the students through how to network for success beyond the four walls of the classroom.

While admonishing them to develop good character, Imaobong noted that good character is an indispensable prerequisite for increasing their network value and self worth.

“For one to network for success, one need to be current, relevant, humble and likable because one’s character leaves greater impression that will last in people’s mind”, she said.

She however advised them to seek for valuable information and guidance before proceeding for higher education.
