In recognition of his extra-ordinary leadership quality, amazing contributions to Nigeria IT space and as an icon of inspiration to younger generation, the President of Association of Telecommunications Company of Nigeria (ATCON), Mr Olusola Teniola has been presented with an award of “Telecom thought leader of the year”.
Teniola bagged this award at the third edition of Nigeria Tech Innovation and Telecom Awards (NTITA) 2019 held in Lagos.
Held once a year, NTITA recognizes the efforts of individuals and business entities leading digitization in the Information Communication Technology sector with innovative products and services.
NTITA was powered by Instinctwave Africa’s in collaboration with ATCON which is the premier Association ever formed by the first set of technocrats in the Nigerian telecommunications industry about 26 years ago.
Teniola also doubles as the Chief Executive officer, Phase3 Telecom having served for three and half years, as the former Director of Engineering and Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Phase3 Telecom.
His ICT career spans some 25 years across the globe in strategic management positions at several major telecom companies.
He was instrumental in the rollout of mobile and broadband services by World Telecom in Portugal (2003 – 2007) and has served in executive positions at British Telecom, Vodafone, Cisco Inc; and Alcatel-Lucent Technologies.

He has also been involved as a member to the ETSI Standardization Work Group committee for Next Generation Protocols and IP Distribution Architectures (2001).
Olusola served as a sub-committee member of the Nigerian Broadband Plan (2012-2013), is currently a member of the IPv6 Council in Nigeria and a member of the A4AIcoalition.
According to an industry expert, Teniola’s award is well deserved in that he always brings with him wealth of proven knowledge in engendering digital transformation; stimulating a culture of innovation and providing the required expertise renewed strategic goals.
