Ogun State Commences Digital Classes for Students During Lockdown

The government of Ogun State has introduced digital classes, e-learning platforms for the benefit of students as they stay away from schools as a preventative measures against the spread of the novel Coronavirus.

Governor Dapo Abiodun disclosed that the platforms are available online and on television.

Mr Abiodun announced the development through his Twitter handle on Tuesday.

“I have directed that, effective from today March 24, 2020, the Ogun State Television, OGTV commence transmission of digital classes for primary and secondary school levels, to compensate for time lost due to the restriction order our Government placed on schools across the State,” the governor wrote.

“Tagged “Ogun DigiClass,” the initiative which will be facilitated by the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, will be handled by experienced educators on core topics.”

“The morning session will be aired between 9am and 11am, while the afternoon seesion will be aired between 1pm and 2pm.

“The interactive class, which will allow for questions from viewing pupils and students, can be watched online by those who do not have access to the televised sessions via http://ogundigiclass.ng

“Parents and guardians are hereby urged to allow and enable their children and wards to benefit from this initiative.”

With this development, Ogun joins the Lagos state government, which earlier announced TV programmes for students as they continue to stay away from schools due to the Coronavirus epidemic.

Recall that the government had earlier ordered a halt in the opening of schools and the limitation of public gatherings over the same development earlier.
