The Nigerian President, Bola Tinubu, has announced a significant reshuffle within the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovations, and Digital Economy, appointing Nkechi Egerton-Idehen as the new Managing Director/CEO of the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT).

This move is part of a broader multi-agency restructuring to bolster the country’s communication, innovation, and digital economy sectors.

The official statement was released by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, under the title “President Tinubu appoints new leadership across the communications, innovation, and digital economy sectors.”

According to the release, Nkechi Egerton-Idehen will assume her new role immediately, succeeding Engineer Tukur Mohammed Lawal Funtua, who took over as NIGCOMSAT’s CEO in December 2022.

Before she was appointed the CEO of NIGCOMSAT, Nkechi Egerton-Idehen served as the Head of Sales for the Middle East & Africa at Meta. She has also played a vital role within the executive leadership team at Ericsson Ghana and Liberia, where she managed the account teams for Ericsson in both countries. Furthermore, her prior roles include an Acting Customer Team Head role at MTN Nigeria and serving as the Country Manager in Nigeria and the Regional Sales Manager in West Africa for Avanti Communications. With over two decades of experience in telecommunications, Nkechi brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role.
