NITRA Elects New Excos, Harps on Right Advocacy

The Nigeria Information Technology Reporters Association (NITRA) on Friday elected new executives member to pilot its affairs for the next three years.

The newly elected Chairman, Chike Onwuegbuchi, Deputy Editor-in-chief of the Nigerian CommunicationsWeek, was returned unopposed with a total votes of 92.6 per cent.

Other elected executives include: Mr. Chidiebere Nwankwo (Editor of eBusiness Life) as Secretary won with a total votes of 70.4 per cent;

Ms Bukola Olanrewaju (Editor of Business Remarks) Assistant Secretary had 92.6 per cent; Mrs Chioma Ezike (FRCN) as Treasurer got 96.3 per cent votes while Mr. Justus Adejumoh joining the executive committee of NITRA as the Financial Secretary had 88.9 per cent votes.

While reeling out his agenda for the Society, Onwuegbuchi stressed that his tenure will boost the credibility of the association among Information and Communications Technology (ICT) stakeholders and industry, at large.

“With right advocacy, NITRA will be promoted to become a reputable and well respected association in the industry,” he noted.

Onwuegbuchi who once served as the Vice President in previous administration, said his vision is to see an association that continues to cater for the welfare of its members as well as become respected in the industry.

Taking over from Mr. Emma Okonji of ThisDay Newspapers, he assured members of exceeding the previous administration achievements.

“I will continue some of the achievements recorded and improve on others such as our Group life policy initiative, collapsing of our quarterly forum into yearly conference with expanded participation by companies among others,” he said, assuring on accountability and prudent management of resources.

All members applauded the 2020 Electoral Committee for a job well done and the seamless as well as transparent eVoting process.

While commending members for orderly conduct of the exercise both at the NIRA House venue and remote participants, the Chairman of the 2020 NITRA Election Committee, Mr. Aaron Ukodie urged other industry group association to emulate NITRA by introducing the electronic voting process.
