NITDA, Huawei collaborate to provide latest ICT technical training

The Management of the National Information Technology Agency, (NITDA) led by its Director General and Minister designate, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, paid a working visit to the Abuja Operational Office of Huawei Technologies Company Nigeria Limited.

The visit which was in furtherance to the existing partnership between NITDA and the company is aimed at charting a new course for IT development in the country through collaborations.

During the meeting, the lead presenter and Senior Solutions manager of Huawei, Engr. Abayomi  Olurishe stated that the collaboration is targeted at continuously expanding and launching Huawei ICT Certification  courses to provide latest ICT technical training.

Describing Nigeria as the most strategic market for Huawei in Africa, Engr. Olurishe noted that the fate the company has about Nigeria made it to invest 76 million USD.  He added that the prayers of the company to NITDA are on “how the meeting would proffer solutions to better develop ICT industry in the country and carry out ICT talent training in Nigeria.

The NITDA Director General, in his brief remarks stated that focus on Local Content development and Capacity building would go a long way in solving the identified challenges, the solutions he proffered are already in the seven key pillars he hinges his administration on.

Recall that, NITDA and the Huawei ICT Academy earlier signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)on building capacity and creating digital jobs in Nigeria.

Dr Pantami stated further that implementation of the previously signed MoU between NITDA and Huawei on human capital development would also help in surmounting the challenges identified.

Most NITDA Directors that expressed their views on the requests advised the company to increase its capacity building, establish Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) plant in Nigeria and move from adoption to adaptation of their technologies.
