NIPOST upgrades mail tracking system, pledges quality services

To commensurate the World Post Day and the role post and courier services play in the society, the Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST) has announced the upgrade of its mail tracking system, track and trace.

The NIPOST Lagos Zonal Manager, Mrs Adebola Ayeni made this disclosure while speaking at the sideline of the 50th anniversary of World Post Week and award ceremony themed “145 Years Delivering Development” held in Lagos.

The World Post Day (WPD) celebration was initiated by the German Minister of Post Heinch Von Stephen on the 9th Day of October, 1969 for all member countries of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) built over 145 years of delivering development.

Ayeni assured that with the system upgrade, customers all over the globe will be able track their items conveniently both locally and internationally without any more challenges.

“The track and trace system will enables customers both individuals and business partners to keep track of the state and exactly location of their goods from their corners.

“NIPOST has gone digital; we have integrated lot of digital services such as e-money order, digital addressing system, e-counter services and lot more into our daily operation so as to satisfy our customers.

With the increase rate for online orders, our e-commerce and e-logistics venture is gradually taking a centre place in business networking.

On this, Ayeni added that more SMEs are taking advantages of NIPOST wide range of networks by partnering with them to deliver their online customers’ orders all over Nigeria.

In her welcome address, Ayeni also noted that in the last few years there has been transformational changes in the Nigerian Postal Service.

She stated that, connecting people globally has long been regarded as a core social obligation of the post, historically.

As a core social and economic infrastructure that has remained the trusted provider of secure communication, payment and delivery services between senders and receivers, NIPOST has seen the important of leveraging on technology to expand and promote their services so that more people will be digitally included.

“However, we must first give kudus to our Postmaster General; Barrister Bisi Adegbuyi, for the transformational process within the last three and half years which brought about the Zonal structure of NlPOST and the slogan: Posting the Post into Prosperity” The post has improved greatly on her quality of service through her.

“During this period NIPOST has put in place International Postal System UPS) and lntegrated Postal Management System (IPMS) in order to improve access to Postal Services within and outside the country”, Ayeni attributed.

According to her, the Nigerian Postal service is now leveraging on technologies to diversify and enhance her services which can be seen in different areas of operations

“NIPOST is driving Socio-Economic development through online internet facility for producers of made in Nigeria goods to send their items and deliver those dispatched from other countries through e-commerce.

“The Address Verification Systems (AVS) is gaining ground, and so is the Digital Addressing System which our Postmaster General is passionate about.

“Our counters have been automated with the latest ICT faculties making it easy for customers to receive and transfer their money to any part of the country at the shortest possible time.

“6 hours Air Post Express delivery in major cities such as Abuja, Port Harcourt and Lagos. There is also same day delivery in Lagos for mails posted before 2.00pm. NIPOST guaranty’s fast, secured mail processing for EMS(Courier arm), and Parcels, registered Letters to various destinations within and outside the country.

“NIPOST has come a long way, is still alive and making waves in Nigeria’s business/world over” Ayeni assured.
