NCC, NIGCOMSAT,  NIPOST Get New CEOs

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Aminu Maida as the new Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of new and returning Chief Executives to fresh terms in office across multiple agencies under the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy.

Until Maida’s appointment, Prof Umar Danbatta had been the EVC of NCC since 2015.

Maida is the Executive Director, Technology and Operations at Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc (NIBSS). He has over 15 years’ multi-functional and international experience in FinTech, Telecoms and Enterprise Technology.

Prior to his appointment at NIBSS, Maida was CTO at the Nigerian-based FinTech Arca Payments Network and Senior Manager at Cisco Systems UK.

The President also named Nkechi Egerton-Idehen to be the new MD / CEO of the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NIGCOMSAT).

Egerton-Idehen is to take over from Tukur Mohammed Lawal Funtua who took over following the retirement of the erstwhile Managing Director, Dr. Abimbola Alale. Tukur Mohammed Lawal was appointed in December 2022.

Before she was appointed the CEO of NIGCOMSAT, Nkechi Egerton-Idehen served as the Head of Sales for the Middle East & Africa at Meta. She has also played a vital role within the executive leadership team at Ericsson Ghana and Liberia, where she managed the account teams for Ericsson in both countries.

Furthermore, the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) also get a new Postmaster General.  Tola Odeyemi is to resume office immediately.

It is to be recall that the former President, Muhammadu Buhari approved the appointment of Hon. Adepoju Adeyemi Sunday as the new Postmaster General/Chief Executive Officer (PMG), for the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) in the month of October 2022.

Appointed for an initial term of five (5) years, following the recommendations made by the previous  Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim (Pantami).

The President also approved the reappointment of Inuwa Kashifu as the director general, National Information Technology Development Agency, NITDA and the reappointment of Dr Vincent Olatunji, National Commissioner/CEO, Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

“Furthermore, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s determination to maximally leverage Nigeria’s proven technological and digital economic prowess to reposition the nation’s economy toward greater financial inclusion, the President has approved the appointment of Idris Alubankudi as Special Adviser to the President”, the statement added.

Mr Ngelale said all the appointments take immediate effect.
