Endorsement, Congratulatory Messages Pours in as Hilda Baci, Nigerian Chef Set New Guinness World Record

The Nigerian chef, Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, has broken the current Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual” after clocking in at 87 hours and 50 minutes.

Baci’s cooking marathon is currently underway in Lekki, Lagos State, at Amore Gardens, where she intends to set a new record of 96 hours.

Hilda, the Nigerian Jollof Queen, started the Guinness World Record cooking competition on Thursday at 4 p.m. by turning on her cooker, and she beat the current world record holder on Monday morning.

As at the time of report, the young chef is currently seen cooking while Nigerians continue to provide moral support needed to achieved this great feat.

If she is certified by Guinness World Records, she will top the current world record holder, Lata Tondon, an Indian chef who achieved the feat in 2019 with 87 hours 45 minutes of record-breaking uninterrupted cooking. Hilda reached the four-day mark on Monday.

Nigerians, including several celebrities, governors and senators, defied the rain to physically cheer up the visibly tired chef in her ongoing record-breaking attempt. However, Netizens are encouraging her to extend it to 100 hours.

According to Business Remarks findings, Hilda has been offered a mouthwatering all expense paid-trip to the Maldives. This is coming after Hilda broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon.

The company wrote: “We are thrilled to announce that @vestiofficial will be offering an all expense paid trip to the Maldives this summer, to the phenomenal @hildabaci of @myfoodbyhilda on her daring and record-breaking attempt at the Guinness world record at 27years for the longest number of hours a chef has cooked.

Also, the country’s biggest Health Management Organisation (HMO), AXA Mansard Health, has offered a one-year free Gold Health Insurance for her.

In a message, the HMO noted that this is to boost the morale of the 27-year-old chef and give her the confidence to progress to the end, despite the exhaustion that might have come with 70 hours of cooking she has already put in.

“Dear Hilda, you’re doing amazing! We see your determination, and we Know You Can.

“AXA Mansard Health solidly supports you. We know that when you feel secure, you can progress. So, we are supporting you with one-year Gold Health Insurance.

“We trust this can strengthen you more in the pursuit of this world record for yourself and the millions of women you inspire every day and our dear country.

“We hope this support will inspire you and serve as an additional elixir to the millions of support that you already enjoy across the world today and always. Wishing her all the best,” the company said.

The chef won the inaugural Jollof Face-off Competition in 2021, taking home a grand prize of $5,000.
