CPN 2022 Assembly to Address IT and National Security, Economic Stability

The 2022 Computer Professional Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN) IT Professionals’ Assembly would explore how Information Technology (IT) could be leveraged for improved national security and economic stability.

The President and Chairman of CPN, Mr Kole Jagun, made this known during a virtual press conference held to announce the sixth edition of the council’s forthcoming CPN IT Professionals’ Assembly/Annual General Meeting 2022.

He said after the deliberations, the Assembly will come up with findings and recommendations that will be geared towards deploying advanced technologies through effective partnerships that promote economic, technological, and national security competitiveness.

Jagun said that information technology played a significant role in the security and economic stability of any country and Nigeria was not different.

He said technology could help countries to identify potential threats, share information and protect mechanisms easily.

“National security is important not only to the government, but to the nation as a whole. IT deals with the use of electronic computers and software to convert, store, protect process, transmit, and securely retrieve information.

“IT has shaped substantially the mode of peoples’ interaction, business processes, entertainment and learning. There is no gainsaying that IT is encouraging globalization and the exchange of information. The benefits of using these technologies are immense and they are here to stay. In the context of globalization and further economic integration in recent decades, the relationship between the economy and national security has become increasingly interlinked.

“Today, the term information is encompassing many aspects of computing and technology, and the term has become very recognisable.

“The benefits of using these technologies are immense and they are here to stay. In the context of globalization and further economic integration in recent decades, the relationship between the economy and national security has become increasingly interlinked,” he said.

Jagun said that the theme for this year’s assembly would be, “Leveraging IT for National Security and Economic Stability”, and would hold at NAF Conference Centre, Abuja on May 18 and May19.
