CODEFEST to train 1million students in 10 years

As part of its plan and goal to contribute to Nigeria development in the IT space, an indigenous information technology organization, CODEFEST has projected to train about a million students in ten years on coding.

Recent report has shown that true to its commitment, CODEFEST has already train over 3000 students on coding children inclusive.

While speaking exclusively with Business Remarks on its 10 years plan, the organization noted at its end of the year party held in Lagos that it is saddening to know that Nigeria is always playing catch up in global development.

As a remedy to this plight and in preparation for the future where IT skills will take dominance in all section of the economy, CODEFEST founder, Mr Moss Uromtah said the year 2019was specially dedicated to train kids from the age range of 5 to 17 years on coding.

According to him, the hunger for experiential learning is overwhelming and Codefest bootcamp for kids is a finishing academy in technology skills of coding, robotics, artificial intelligence, internet of things, 3D printing etc.

“So far, we have partners from 6 cities in Nigeria: Lagos, Kano, Abuja, Umuahia, Portharcourt, and Warri. We hope to use this platform to meet our 2020 goals of training one million Nigerians – kids, youth, working class”, Uromtah told our correspondent.

Speaking of its achievement, he noted that the Codefest Coding Bootcamp for kids has become valuable commodity in every home where kids 5-17 years abound.

In his words, Codefest Bootcamp has become a signature training program with over 3,000 kids/youth trained on coding skills in various programming languages – the projects developed by our students are been incubated, going through tests before launch.

“Parents , schools, teachers have testified of the results in our curriculum and delivery. Using STEM approach, a combination of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to make the kids creative and interested in problem solving .

“We combine emotional intelligence and outcome based education to spark curiosity of kids, with the ability to use the tools we show them, they are able to create digital products for play or work”, he explained.

Uromtah added that most of the kids who went through their bootcamps have built there original products now in use, others have won global awards representing a Nigeria cause.
