Clone Apps to Lose Users as ChatGPT Debuts as Smartphone App on iPhones

Several applications on smartphones playstore pretending to be Open AI ChatGPT- based chatbots are set to lose users as ChatGPT makes its debut as a smartphone app on iPhones

It is to be recall, it’s been more than five months since OpenAI released ChatGPT to the public, sparking excitement and alarm and a whole bunch of clone apps that have tried to profit off the ChatGPT technology could lose users now that the AI chatbot is available on mobile phones.

Business Remarks findings revealed that ChatGPT clone apps are earning thousand dollars per month, among which are the fleeceware-like app, Genie which encourages users to sign up for a $7 weekly or $70 annual subscription, earned $1 million in the previous month and the other Ask AI Assistant, charges $6 per week — or $312 per year — after earning the developers $10,000 in March alone.

According to the company, ChatGPT free app started to become available on iPhones in the United States on Thursday and will later be coming to Android phones. The company also noted OpenAI will remain ad-free but “syncs your history across devices”.

“We’re starting our rollout in the US and will expand to additional countries in the coming weeks,” said a blog post announcing the new app, which is described in the App Store as the “official app” by OpenAI.
