Clarity school to host girl child summit in Lagos

A Lagos based Social Enterprise; Clarity School for Girls is set to host the 2018 edition of Girl Child Summit.

The event is billed to hold on Thursday , October 25, 2018 at the Lagos Anglican Girls Grammar School, Surulere, Lagos.

The theme for this year ‘s event is “Teaching Lifeskills- A preparatory tool for effective adulthood”

Girl Child Summit is a platform for discussing issues affecting girls in Africa and advocating for policies that promote gender parity.

It is an annual event which holds in October being the month during which the day of the girl child is celebrated worldwide.

The Keynote speaker at the event is Dr ElishamaIdeh, Founder of Partnership for a new Nigeria, others speakers include TemiloluOkeowo, Founder, Girls club of Nigeria, EnahoroOkhae, Principal Coach, Pause Factory, Olorunfunmi Adebayo, Executive Director, Kindle Africa Empowerment Initiative , Kate Ibeanusi, Executive Director, Initiative for Sustsaining Family Unity and AdeyemiOmoyemi, Social Mobilisation Officer, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

According to the convener of the event who is also the Lead Coach of Clarity School for girls,Ibironke Olurotimi, the event is borne out of the need for intelligent discourse among stakeholders, reaching reasonable resolutions and action plans for girl child related issues.

The event  will have members of government, parents, Ministry of Education officials, Media institutions, girl-related NGO’s, civil societies, School administrators, Female Entrepreneurs and girls from different secondary schools in Lagos in attendance.

In the words of Adebambo Gbesan , the Program Manager of the organization, ‘’We believe that when girls have access to the right information and an enabling environment their possibilities are endless.

The intellectual discussions from our distinguished speakers will bring to fore the importance of teaching life skills in our schools using the co-curricular system. And  it will also doubles as the celebration of the day of the girl child  which also falls in October, it will be a great opportunity to talk about issues that affect our female leaders of tomorrow.’’

Clarity School for girls is a social enterprise and a lifeskills school where girls are equipped to thrive and succeed in this fast paced world.

The focus of its work is on  increasing  the pool of women leaders in Business, Government, Development and indeed every sphere of Life.

This is done  through  workshops, conferences, mentorship and coaching programs.
