CAC Server Experiences Hiccups over MainOne Infrastructure Breakdown

The Nigeria’s Corporate Affairs Commission  (CAC) saddled with the responsibility of registration of new businesses in the country is presently experiencing server difficulties following breakdown of MainOne Communications infrastructure hosting its IT base.

Investigation by Business Remarks revealed that businesses making use of the commission’s online services have suffered disruption as they have been unable to get their certificates and business name reservation.

Further findings revealed that this has negatively affected some business smooth operations, most especially MSMEs in the country.

An internal memo seen by Business Remarks disclosed that the disruption in the online services started on 9th of June 2020 at around 8 a.m.

The disruption was attributed to the infrastructure failure at the hosting facility at MainOne data center in Lagos.

According to the memo, MainOne cable company is responsible for the hosting and management of the commission’s IT infrastructure.

Speaking with Business Remarks, a customer named Adewunmi Tosin decried CAC delay in issuing the certificate as at when due.
Tosin told our correspondent that he and his team has successful paid and registered his business since last three months but have not been able to get the certificate.

In his words “Because of this delay, we can’t operate smoothly. There are loads of things this certificate is holding down and it is becoming alarming. You encouraged people and businesses to make use of your online platform but they get disappointed each time.

“Online and IT services are meant to be seamless and satisfying but the adverse is the case here. We are just left hanging. It is high time FG address this. Times are changing, with COVID 19, it can’t continue to be business as usual. CAC should be more efficient in fulfilling its part” he lamented.

Similarly, another customer, Funmilola Olaosebikan who works as a consultant for business owners looking to register their businesses through the Corporate Affairs Commission also lamented on the poor service delivery of the commission in recent months.

According to her, “We now receive lots of complaints from our clients because they could get their certificates as at when due.

“This situation has been going on since last year November but in March 2020, it became more annoying. The online service is just nothing to write home about.’’

Efforts made by Business Remarks to the MainOne and CAC media team proved abortive.
