Bankers to Examine COVID-19 Impact on 2021 Economy

The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria Centre for Financial Studies has said it is collaborating with B. Adedipe Associates Limited to hold a roundtable session on 7th national economic outlook.

The institute announced this in a statement on Sunday titled ‘CIBN holds its 7th national economic outlook’.

According to the statement, the annual event is typically held with the aim to engage all stakeholders in key sectors of the Nigerian economy and elicit implementable government policies.

It said the forum also typically discussed topical and emerging issues in the banking industry and economy as well as their implications for businesses in the coming year.

The CIBN said, “The 7th edition is particularly significant as the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on key sectors of the economy in 2021 would be examined.

“Furthermore, avenues on how businesses in key sectors can survive and grow despite the rough terrain would also be tackled.”

It said the virtual event would feature carefully selected subject-matter experts who would share their insights on the preceding year as well as practicable solutions for businesses in the current year.

It said the Chairman, Presidential Economic Advisory Council, Dr Doyin Salami, would deliver the keynote address.

The institute said, “Others distinguished panelists are Director-General, Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, Ambassador Ayoola Olukanni;  the Chief Executive Officer, AFEX Commodity Exchange, Mr Ayodeji Balogun; Divisional Chief Executive, Interswitch, Mr Akeem Lawal; and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Infinity Paint International Limited, Mr Johnson Samuel,  among others would participate.”

 

The event would be hosted by the President/Chairman of Council of CIBN, Mr Bayo Olugbemi, and the Chief Consultant, BAA Consult, Dr Biodun Adedipe.
