Children Day: Ovie Brume Foundation Advocates for Child Education to Promote Literacy Level

The foundation gave this advise during a children’s day celebration organized by the foundation in Lagos.

The foundation gathered 32 public schools children on the Lagos Island to celebrate the special day while also urging parents and guardians to give their wards a sense of dignity.

The Head of Programs, Mrs Adeola Potts- Johnson said the NGO identified with most of the public school children to celebrate them in order to show them love, care and affection and to imbibe in them spirit of self esteem.

At the ceremony, essay competition was organised by the foundation among the public school children with education materials  including books, dictionary and school bags given to the winners.

She identified child education as a major backbone in nation building and a tactful approach towards solving and reducing illiteracy rate in the country.

She further advised parents and guardians to respect child education and avoid child labour and abuse which may lead to breakdown of children’s lifeline career and future.

Potts-Johnson made reference to an internally displaced child, Moh’d Moh’d who lacked access to education because of Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast before he was taken up by the foundation.

She explained that the young Moh’d after the foundation intervention distinguished himself by taking the first position among 60 schools pupils in a competition.
